If LFW continues in this vein then the fash pack will all be wearing wellies and cagoules by Monday! It might have been a rainy start but it hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm. Despite the drizzles, the courtyard at Somerset House was as packed as ever with crowds of fashion fans keen to drink in the LFW spirit, posing for street style spotters and tweeting/ instagramming/ tumblr-ing their hearts out.
The first day of LFW is always nicely relaxed, allowing us to all get into the groove of going to shows and filing reports before the schedule gets super packed at the weekend. When you’re working 12-14 hour days, heels just aren’t an option. Today I opted for my brand new- and quite fabulous if I do say so- Del Toro slippers which I wore with fabulously comfortable Thomas Pink Dulcie silk trousers and an Ostwald Helgason sweatshirt. It’s only polite to wear what you own from a designer when you’re off to their show!
If you’re keen to know about trends then I’m afraid on day one it’s hard to tell but there was pink everywhere both on and off the catwalk. So if you’ve got your eye on a blush jumper then don’t feel guilty about snapping it up right now!
Here are a few photos from my day…
First thing at Somerset House… the calm before the storm. Literally and metaphorically.
Beautiful prints at the Ostwald Helgason presentation and doesn’t this make you want to buy a long, long skirt? Plus, proof that you can never go wrong with a red lip.
There’s still lots of monochrome on the catwalks. Jean Pierre Braganza did thick stripes with hints of pink, just to soften the look.
I always love going backstage. each designer creates these cards with details of the look and make-up for each model.
My last show of the day was Todd Lynn. This sign raised a smile on our way in at the venue, The Drury Club…
A lovely long cocktail as a pre-show refreshment
Check out these dapper gents on the front row. Note the pink jacket and the pocket square in particular.
One’s gaze invariably falls to footwear at the shows. The beautifully delicate bow heels caught my eye today.
One of Todd’s Lynn’s daring designs- this appeared as a full-length gown from the front but became cheeky hot pants only as the model turned.
And finally, the finale at Todd Lynn. Happy Fashion Friday!
