A Fact from our Shirt Lab: More to a Collar than meets the eye

Although the shirt collar may be commonplace today, its origins of the collar trace back to the 14th Century when a ruffle was created from the drawstring at the neck of the medieval chemise. Later, at the turn of the 20th Century, a collar was worn as a form of jewelry.

Thomas Pink’s Head of Design Frederik Willems advocates matching a style of collar to one’s jaw line with a narrow face being suited to a cutaway collar whereas an extreme cutaway collar would be more appropriate for a gentlemen with fuller features.

Pink alert: There are 14 different components that make up a collar on a Thomas Pink  shirt.
